Spectrum campers visit the PVCC Garden

Yesterday we were visited again by the spectacular Jennifer Page and her Organic Food Production campers from Tandem Friends School’s Spectrum camp. When we see that white bus pull up to the curb we know that it’s time to get revved up because all that fresh energy from the young children is like an ocean wave breaking over the top. A little salty and very refreshing, particularly in the heat that we’ve been experiencing.
Those campers don’t complain though. They’ve visited us throughout the summer, augmenting their camp experience by planting, weeding, running their hands through our herbs and across our tomatoes, learning about compost and irrigation systems, donation of food, harvesting, tasting, and more! On Tuesday they planted rows of beans, pinched the basil, harvesting some chard seeds and took corn shocks back on the bus to create something beautiful. I’m not sure what they’ll do next but whatever it is, they’ll have fun doing it. Thanks for visiting, Spectrum. Come back soon!
