From PVCC enews:
Sixteen volunteers from the Charlottesville Newsplex showed up raring to work in the PVCC Horticulture and Environmental Club’s Community Garden last Wednesday, September 21st. It was a great team effort as part of the United Way Day of Caring. In addition, PVCC’s Horticulture and Environmental Club president Sara Elizabeth and Club Advisor singin’ David Lerman, student success advisor, were present; Timothy Woodson, groundskeeper, did a wonderful job; Jonathan Kennison, stores and warehouse specialist, and Robert Thacker, trades technician, were there; Tim Brown, supervisor, security and safety, roped off an area for parking; and PVCC student Sydney Mariscal and Erin Hughey-Commers, Piedmont Futures, came in to help. Kit Decker, professor of Spanish, and John Gulley, associate professor of philosophy, came and worked too! Lunch was purchased from the on-campus provider, First Run Catering.
Want to learn more about growing your own food? The PVCC Horticulture and Environmental Club will continue working in the garden on Sunday mornings and would love to have your company. Club meetings are also held Thursdays from 12:10-12:40 p.m. in the garden, weather permitting. Contact Sara Elizabeth at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. The PVCC Community Garden is located near the Dickinson Building, across College Drive from parking lot number four.
