Club members please see the invitation below.
The PVCC Horticulture Club is warmly invited to a presentation about my newly released book entitled, Gardens of the Spirit. This will take place at the Virginia Festival of the Book on Thursday, March 17, 6 p.m., on PVCC’s campus in the V. Earl Dickinson Building. Interestingly, that also is St. Patrick’s Day for those who may have interest, so the “wearin’ o the green” on that day will be more appropriate than ever.
Reminder – our next meeting is Monday, February 28th at 12:20 in room 158. Hope to see you there! The seed swapping/purchase event this past weekend was a great chance to meet other people working and interested in growing foods and community.

Here is a very cool thing available for 6th – 9th graders this summer:
Future Farmers of Charlottesville: Do you like to get your hands dirty? Do you want to eat tomatoes and cucumbers you grew yourself? Plant seeds, harvest vegetables, keep track of weather and other garden data and take home seeds and seedlings to start or expand your own garden. Learn about different kinds of soil, composting and how to keep pests away from your garden. Visit farmers, community gardeners and local food advocates. Take a trip to Monticello to see how Jefferson gardened. Eat what you’ve grown during a Friday lunch prepared from the PVCC community garden. Guinevere Higgins is co-founder of Blue Ridge Backyard Harvest.
Check out the brochure or the website for this and other programs available for Summer Career Academies 2011.
